Leighton (Lee) Scott has developed a magical way of doing scenery modeling that is quicker, easier, and safer than traditional methods. These methods were used at Magic Train World in Greencastle, PA and at a local model railroad club, as well as on private layouts where Lee has worked. Textured Backgrounds

Using several water-based texturizing media that I buy from home improvement stores as well as acrylic and latex paints, I create ultra realistic backgrounds as seen in the photos below. This enables very thin backgrounds to present an allusion of great depth. This works for all scales, too.
